Introduction

MessageTree™  is an ideal solution for creating easy to reference, transportable, shareable, and flexible archives of your Outlook messages outside of Outlook, viewable with any text editor or browser.

The .pst and/or .ost file(s) are the repository of your important Outlook data. As these files increase in size Outlook can slow down and display other aberrant behavior, placing your data at risk. Creating archives of your messages can help - but you still need Outlook to view your messages and you still risk losing access to all your messages if your data files becomes even slightly corrupted.

MessageTree's  name is all about what it does: it creates "message trees" of all your emails, maintaining the same folder tree structure under which you've organized your messages inside Outlook. Best of all, you select which messages to include, so you can create multiple message trees for different purposes; you can include all your messages or only a subset of all messages; you can create message trees by subject or by any other parameter. You can easily distribute message trees when you need to share messages, and you can easily post them online.

And MessageTree  gives you options for amazing flexibility:

- save the messages in .txt or .msg format for use with any text editor,
or .html format for viewing with any internet browser
- include complete, simplified, or no header information with each message
- keep the messages in Outlook after saving or automatically delete them
- print all saved messages

Message naming is one of the most powerful features of MessageTree,  permitting you to create names for the saved messages using the following components, combined in any order you choose:

- From (Name)
- From (Email Address)
- To (Name)
- To (Email Address)
- Subject
- Received Date
- Sent Date
- Entry ID
- User defined text

Further, you can define text which should be deleted from the name of messages, allowing you to eliminate repetitive text from the which doesn't help distinguish one message from another.

You can run MessageTree while Outlook is open or while it is closed; you should not, however, run more than one instance of the program at a time. While MessageTree has been designed to work with Outlook versions 97, 98, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2007 (and on any computer with a Windows operating system of Windows 95 and higher), we can't possibly test our software for every possible combination of software configurations. As such, you should use the trial version to verify that MessageTree will work on your system before you purchase the program.

This Help file contains instructions on how to use MessageTree and should be read before you use the program so you can familiarize yourself with the program's features.

Keep in mind that MessageTree requires Outlook; it will not run on your system if Outlook is not installed. MessageTree does not work with Outlook Express nor with any email clients other than Microsoft Outlook.

IMPORTANT NOTE: MessageTree accesses the Outlook data .pst and/or .ost file(s) holding all your Outlook message and address book data. Remember to backup your data file(s) before making changes with MessageTree.
