The Delete Message area is where you can set a date, or a range of dates, for deleting messages in quantity. You can, of course, delete only a single message if you want, but it's ArchiveAssist's unique ability to select messages across folders by a user defined date or date range which sets this program apart.
To delete all messages with a specific Modified Date, enter the same date in the Period Start and Period End boxes. To delete all messages within a range of dates, enter different dates in the Period Start and Period End boxes to define the deletion date range. Then make sure to place a checkmark in all the folders you want included in the delete operation. If you want to delete all messages in all folders, for example, place a checkmark in the "Personal Folders" box (the top folder) and make sure the date range you set includes the earliest and latest dates of your messages.
To change the date in the Period Start or Period End fields, you can click the Down Arrow at the right side of the box to bring up a calendar-format date selector. Alternatively, you can highlight a component of the date you want to change (month, date, year, hours, minutes, seconds, and AM/PM) and type in the desired information or use your Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to enter the change.
To delete messages which are displayed in the message list, you can use the Delete toolbar button or use the Delete Message(s) button in the Delete Message area. To delete messages from more than one folder at a time, however, you must use the Delete Message(s) button in the Delete Message area, making sure to have set the date range appropriately.
ArchiveAssist's operates on the basis of persistent selection; once you have selected messages in a folder by placing checkmarks in their checkboxes, those messages will remain selected for deletion even once you select another folder's messages to be displayed in the message list.
The number of messages to be deleted will be shown in the status bar and a progress bar will graphically display the progress of the deletion operation.
After you've selected messages and pressed the Delete Message(s) button, the following Confirm Deletion message will be shown, requiring your final approval for the deletion operation to take place. Deleting messages in ArchiveAssist does not permanently delete those messages, but places them in the "Deleted Items" folder.
