2. Start-Up Issues Issues:
2b. I receive an error about .ocx and .dll files not being registered...
Despite Microsoft's stated policy (see this page at the Microsoft website) that Windows Vista fully supports VB6, many of the files which are crucial to VB6 programs do not register properly under Vista. The affected files include the following:
msflxgrd.ocx
comdlg32.ocx
msbind.dll
mswinsck.ocx
msderun.dll
msinet.ocx
mswinsck.ocx
mscomctl.ocx
msdatlst.ocx
msflxgrd.ocx
msmask32.ocx
tabctl32.ocx
mscomm32.ocx
msdbrptr.dll
msdatgrd.ocx
mscomct2.ocx
mshflxgd.ocx
msadodc.ocx
msvbvm60.dll
olepro32.dll
comcat.dll
msstdfmt.dll
The solution to this problem is to run the batch file vista_fix.bat, which can be downloaded from here. Download the file to your desktop and double-click it to resolve the registration issue. Make sure you've shut down all programs before running the batch file.
